Once again John and his ladies find themselves pulled into conflict. Between just trying to survive and doing the right thing they are up to their necks in deep shit.
Sandy and May are their usual selves which is enough to keep anybody busy just putting out the fires they start, but John is more than able to handle them until they ....... well, guess ya gotta read it!

A Long Lonely Road Book 8 Desert Heat eBook TJ Reeder

For John's accumulating the extra wives. In my opinion Sandy's personality was strong enough to carry thru the series. I enjoyed the humorous play between John and Sandy to begin with but after the second wife joined the "family" I was very disappointed to see John, a great warrior and leader, appear to become totally henpecked instead of having a partner to walk beside him as it began with him and Sandy.

I've just finished book 8 and have enjoyed the story thoroughly with the exception of my previous comments. The characters come to life on each page and as someone else said "make you feel as tho you know them" ........again with the exception of "the girls" who by book 8 were acting more like spoiled teens than fun loving women in their 30's.

I don't think I am going any further right now in this series, as I have had enough of the "girls", but I am going to order some of TJ's other books as I love his writing style and stories.

A Long Lonely Road Book 8 Desert Heat eBook TJ Reeder Reviews

I'm now on my last TJ Reeder book...and I can't wait for more...If you're a grammar Nazi who thinks you're smarter than most and just can't bear to read writing that isn't perfect, just get over yourself and enjoy the absolutely AWESOME storytelling ability of Mr. Reeder!!!

Thanks TJ, keep it up!!!!
Sorry I bought it ... didn't read it after the second book ...
I really enjoy the books. I like his sense of humor. I like the way the end of a book is the end of a chapter and there is closer. I'm even ok with his side tracking to his sexual fantasies. But enough of the two wives. They were fun, but they are getting old. I hope I see a little less of them in the coming books. Nothing bad, just a little less of them.
Just bought book nine. Sad to say I'm stopping there. Just to much money as I read a book and a half a day. With over forty books that's just over my limit. I just hate to miss the rest of the adventures. Maybe these would sell more in set. Anyway, good story.
I typically do not write book reviews. If I enjoy a book, I will seek to purchase additional works by that author. If the book or the Author's style does not appeal to me, I do not send scathing negative comments. I simply by-pass any additional works by that writer. The "Long Lonely Road" series by TJ Reeder is causing me to break from my tradition of no-reviews. These stories are simply written and quite entertaining. I think that much of the appeal is that I grew up in the areas described by Mr. Reeder in these books. I can visualize the events and adventures described in each volume of the series. I am disappointed by some of the negative reviews that are being posted. Yes, there is no denying that punctuation and grammatical "license" is enjoyed by the Author, but come on folks and get off your high horse. These are camp-fire tales in the fashion of telling stories of legendary frontier characters from times past. Overall.....just a good read. Thank you for the tales Mr. Reeder!!!
You're right, big city fighting was a little mind boggling but it's good the hit and run. I am on to the next in the series but it is getting too expensive to keeping reading these short stories. Will decide if I will continue after this next one since it's getting a little too easy to figure what's gonna happen in each tussle with the baddies not to mention the cost of these short stories.
I have been a fan of this series from the beginning and I have to say this is by far my favorite book. Here we get to see the different groups of people John has befriended over the years as they come together as well as take a "peek" at the Powell Lake colony and their Hobbit houses. Doc and Wyatt are again up to their old tricks and we get a surprise or two along the way as John confronts the Barstow issue left over from the last book. New characters, new concerns, and a fresh take on "urban renewal" via high explosives makes this book hard to beat in the series.

Plus, the note at the end from the author was a welcome bit of advice and also reveals some of the creative process a writer goes through in writing a book or a series. If you have read the other books and liked them, you will love this lastest entry.
